OHIO STATE MEDICAL POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE (OSMAPAC)

OSMAPAC is the Ohio State Medical Association Political Action Committee. Members include one physician representative from each OSMA council district, a resident physician member, a medical student and two OSMA Alliance members. Kathy Harter of Franklin County (Columbus) and I are the two State Alliance members. We work wit and support candidates who will listen to the voice of medicine regardless of political affiliation.

OSMAPAC meets four times a year and holds conference calls as needed. Tim Maglione, Legislative Director, leads a fine team of lobbyists and office staff. The newest staff member is Laura Padgitt who is very willing to visit County Medical Alliances to inform them about the PAC and to provide Statehouse updates.

2010 will be a big election year for many races: Governor, all State Representatives, half of the Senators and trhee Supreme Court Justice, including Chief Justice. Thanks to the support of Ohio physicians our numbers and accounts are in fairly good shape at present; however, 2010 will be a heavy PAC year.
